How to DIY A Near Infrared Sauna

Hi, I’m Liz!

I'm a judgement-free certified wellness coach. I'll talk on the phone with you each day to encourage you in your journey toward a healthy, vibrant lifestyle. I would love to help you >>

Today I want to talk about my near infrared sauna that I assembled from products I purchased on Amazon, Home Depot, and from a company called Saunaspace.

I DIY’d my near infrared sauna several years ago and started to use it regularly.

For the past 2 years I’ve used it every morning in conjunction with my meditation practice. I like to think  that I’m refreshing my brain with my meditation while  rejuvenating my body with my near infrared sauna.

Easily assemble a near infrared sauna using 4 different items. It's simple and affordable!

The following items are what  I used to create my sauna:

Depending on where you purchase your near infrared sauna items the total cost for your sauna would be between $300.00 and $450.00.

Saunaspace.com saunas cost between $1999 and $5999, and their light source is unidirectional (they recommend that you rotate your body throughout your sauna session).  My lights are set up to shine on my front, back, and the top of my body simultaneously.  This creates a more efficient sauna experience.

Saunas are often categorized as traditional, far infrared and near infrared.

My near infrared (NIR) lamp sauna combines the heat therapy of traditional saunas and NIR phototherapy. The tungsten filaments in Edison heat lamps produce the same beneficial visible red & near infrared elements of natural sunlight. Nature has designed us to benefit directly from near infrared light. The cells in our bodies contain tiny photoreceptors called “chromophores” which absorb near infrared light but not mid or far infrared light. Tungsten heat lamps produce almost no EMF (electromagnetic frequency) and gently heat the body from within.

Here is a list of many of the benefits from using near infrared saunas:

  • Increased Cellular Metabolism

  • Increased Blood Circulation

  • Increased Tissue Oxygenation

  • Increased Collagen Production

  • Production of Inflammatory Mediators that Reduce Cellular Inflammation

  • Production of Growth Factors that assist Cellular Regeneration

  • Increased Cellular and Tissular Growth

  • Activation of Anti-Aging Systems

The video that accompanies this blog explains in more detail how I assembled my sauna, however If you have any questions or comments about my near infrared sauna or health and wellness in general please email me lizm@lizmosercoaching.com.

I look forward to hearing from you! 😊
